The officer involved in a police chase Monday night that killed a mother of four has been identified.
Sardis Police Chief Steve McLarty told WMC-TV that the officer who hit Ericka Hughes, 32, head-on is Alex Aikens, 33. McLarty said Aikens remains in the Regional Medical Center in Memphis in critical condition. Aikens is scheduled for surgery Wednesday, WMC reported.
A family is demanding answers as authorities in a north Mississippi town investigate a police chase that ended in the death of a mother of four and the officer in critical condition.
