Police investigate the collision between a reportedly stolen pickup and a Ford sedan at the southbound I-15 offramp and Santaquin Main Street on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The 17-year-old female driver of the sedan was critically injured at the scene and died Sunday.
The Utah Highway Patrol became aware of the pursuit on southbound Interstate 15 near 800 South in Payson at 8:52 p.m. Saturday when a Utah County Sheriff’s deputy was pursuing a pickup that was reported stolen out of Payson, according to DPS information.
The initial pursuit was conducted by the Salem Police Department, which tried to stop the truck before the driver fled. After Salem police terminated their pursuit, the sheriff’s deputies located the pickup and began a second pursuit as the pickup driver began going south on I-15.
When the pickup driver exited the freeway at Santaquin Main Street, he reportedly ran a red light at the bottom of the off-ramp and struck Dolph’s vehicle as she was heading east on Main Street.
