(Fairfax MN-) A Fairfax man faces several charges after a chase in Renville County Tuesday night which injured a Renville County deputy. 32-year-old Mark Wendlandt was arrested east of Fairfax after a chase that began when police and deputies were called to check on a suicidal man at a Fairfax address around 10:17 p.m. Tuesday. Wendlandt had already left when police arrived. He was spotted in Gibbon where it was reported Wendlandt tried to strike a Gibbon police car. There was a pursuit, and one of Wendlandt’s tires was deflated with a spike strip but he kept going into Fairfax. He hit a trailer, drove onto a lawn, then hit a Renville County patrol car head-on, fled, hit another squad car, but was eventually blocked in by police and arrested. He was checked out by paramedics, then taken to the Renville County Jail. It is believed Wendlandt was under the influence of drugs.
